Jebel Shams, the Mountain of the Sun, is the highest point in Oman, north of Al Hamra in the Al Hajar range. This trip is built around the summit: an early start, a long climb on rocky ground, and a high camp where the temperature drops and the sky opens. It is a demanding hike that rewards fitness and patience.
