About the Destination
Madakhel begins as a garden canyon and narrows, steadily, into something far tighter. The trail moves from open ground into passages where the walls close in and the only way forward is on your hands and knees. Your guide handles the route-finding, the technical sections, and the coaching — helmets are required, and after recent rain, expect to wade or swim short pools. Going up the canyon is harder than coming back, which is part of the draw. It's claustrophobic in the best sense: a tight, committing route with moments of quiet reward in between. Not one for those uneasy in small spaces — but for those ready, one of AlUla's finest canyon days.
