About the Experience
Madakhel sits inside a narrow canyon shaded by sheer sandstone walls, where a thin ribbon of vegetation holds on against the desert. The trail is short, just over 2 km, and easy underfoot, a good choice for families and travelers looking for something gentle and grounded. As you walk, the canyon opens and closes around you, shifting between sunlit ground and deep shade. Your guide shares the geology and the small signs of life that thrive here, from desert plants to the occasional bird call echoing off the rock. It is less a hike than a slow walk through a garden the desert has built for itself. About three and a half hours, reached by 4x4.
