About the Experience
Tahery Cave sits below the Selma Plateau in the Eastern Hajar, a high, remote place with no town in sight. The first night is a camp on the plateau. On the second morning we start early, down a steep slope of loose rock and on for two to three hours to the cave. We set up the second camp at the entrance, rest, and then go inside with your guide, through passages and chambers to the last wall. Guests who book the Crystal Chamber option go beyond it on rope, after training with us. On the third day we hike back out to the vehicles, three to five hours, and drive to Muscat.
What to Bring
Hiking boots with ankle support, a 50 liter backpack, a sleeping bag and mat, two headlamps with spare batteries, a hiking pole, a 2 liter water bottle, quick-dry T-shirts, hiking trousers, thick socks, a light jacket, and thermal layers for winter nights. Keep your pack as light as you can.
