THE ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Muscat and check into your local hotel for a relaxing night after your international flight.

Day 2: Begin with a city tour of Muscat, exploring popular landmarks such as Sultan Qaboos Mosque, Oman’s iconic Opera House and Muttrah corniche and souk. Mutrah is Oman’s economic hub and traditional Arabic market bustling with vendors. Al Dhalam, the Souq with the nearby harbor is one of the oldest marketplaces in the Arab World, strategically located on the way to China and India. You can enjoy views of the corniche and take a short walk around to get a feel of this more traditional part of the city.

Enjoy lunch in a local café before driving 75 km to Wadi Dayqah. Dayqah Damm was built in 2012 to collect the rain falling from the high peaks and to control the water flowing through to the villages below. The result is a stunning fresh water lake and river which extends 7 km from the main body of the damm. Kayak across the stunning freshwater lake before setting up camp for the night. The campsite has access to toilet and shower facilities.

Day 3: After breakfast, pack up camp and set off on a 27 km drive to Wadi Al Aribeen. Located within the Al Sharqiyah region, this impressive wadi boasts a year-round waterfall. The group will set off on a 5-hour hike through boulders, wadi pools, and narrow passages to reach this impressive 80 ft natural water feature. Tonight, the group will camp on the Salmah Plateau, 61 km from the Wadi, 1900 m above sea level. The Plateau is one of the best stargazing spots in Oman, on a clear night you can be lucky enough to see the Milky-Way. This is wild mountain camping, work together to set up camp and prepare dinner.


Day 4: After a hearty breakfast, pack up camp and begin a short sightseeing tour of the Plateau. Visit Tahery Cave viewpoint and stand at the entrance of Majlis Al Jinn, one of the world's largest caves! The journey continues as the group descend the plateau, travel on the coastal road to Sur before making way inland to Wahiba sands. Traveling 223 km south-west, the drive will take approx. 3.5 hours. Check into Sama Al Wasil resort in time to catch the sunset over the golden dunes.


Day 5: This morning, after breakfast the drive Northwest begins as the group drive 190 km to the ancient town of Nizwa. Visit the traditional fort and souk before sampling Omani cuisine from a traditional café. Next stop is the Western Hajar mountain range, ascend Jebal Shams ‘Mountain of Sun’ and check into SAMA heights resort. Those looking to stretch their legs can opt for a 1 hour each way hike at sunset to reach the IMAX viewpoint before returning to the resort for dinner.


Day 6: Grab an early breakfast on the go and make your way to the Balcony Walk start point. This 2000-year-old 2 km trail leads to the abandoned village of Sab Bani Khamis. Return to SAMA heights, shower, check out and have lunch before ascending the mountain to the traditional town of Al Hamra. Visit the Omani working museum Bait Al Safah to learn more about the way of living, cultures and customs of Oman. It’s time to return to Muscat as the group travel 255 km and check into a local hotel for their final evening.

Day 7: Early departures can grab breakfast, check out, and transfer to the airport. Late departures can relax at the resort or opt for a boat trip to Daymaniyat Islands, known for abundant marine life, including turtles and blacktip sharks, this collection of islands is located 40 km from the coast of Muscat.
