THE ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive in Muscat and check into your local hotel for a relaxing night after your international flight.

Day 2: Begin with a city tour of Muscat, exploring popular landmarks such as Sultan Qaboos Mosque, Oman’s iconic Opera House and Muttrah corniche and souk. Mutrah is Oman’s economic hub and traditional Arabic market bustling with vendors. Al Dhalam, the Souq with the nearby harbor is one of the oldest marketplaces in the Arab World, strategically located on the way to China and India.You can enjoy views of the corniche and take a short walk around to get a feel of this more traditional part of the city.

Day 3: After breakfast, depart Dayqah and drive 88 km south-east. The group will stop in at Bimmah sinkhole, a 70 m wide sinkhole, consider a natural marvel. After a brief photo stop, the group will continue south and ascend the Salmah Plateau to reach the Tahery Cave hike start point. Gather your sleeping bags and personal belongings before embarking on a 5 km trek to Tahery Cave. This impressive is part of the Oman’s unique caving network, the group will set up a basic camp at the mouth of the cave before continuing 1 km inside with just their head torches and helmets to reach one of the large cave chambers. Tuck into a steak cooked on the fire and then enjoy the star-studded sky outside of the cave.

Day 4: Wake up at sunrise, hike 5 km back to the vehicles, and cook a warm breakfast before continuing your adventure to Wadi Tiwi. This vibrant canyon is lush paradise of palm trees and wadi pools, the group will boulder and swim to reach the large wadi pool. Return to the vehicles, change into your dry gear and then 128 km southwest to reach Wahiba Sands. Check into a desert camp and watch sunset over the golden dunes.

Day 5: This morning, after breakfast the drive Northwest begins as the group drive 190 km to the ancient town of Nizwa. Visit the traditional fort and souk before sampling Omani cuisine from a traditional café. Next stop is Misfat Al Abriyeen, one of Oman’s most picturesque mountain villages, known for its mud houses and bountiful farms. From here the group will ascend Jebal Shams ‘Mountain of Sun’ and check into SAMA heights resort. Those looking to stretch their legs can opt for a 1 hour each way hike at sunset to reach the IMAX viewpoint before returning to the resort for dinner.

Day 6: Rise before sunrise, grab breakfast on the go, and embark on a 9 km each way hike to Jebel Shams summit, the highest peak in the Gulf. This challenging yet rewarding journey will take between 8-10 hours depending on the group’s speed and fitness levels. Once you reach the summit, you will get to sit and absorb your surroundings as you take in the stunning views of Wadi Al Sahtan and the rest of Oman through a shear drop of 10,000 ft. Return to the hotel for a well-deserved dinner and reflection.  

Day 7: After breakfast, check out of the resort and descend the mountain as you drive 75km through the Western Hajar mountain range to reach the Wadi Bani Awf region. Park up,you’re your life jackets, harnesses, helmets and dry bags as you spend the next 3-4 hours exploring Snake Canyon. Known as Oman’s natural water park, this narrow canyon boasts water pools and multiple abseil points. Return to Muscat by 6 pm this evening and check into your hotel for a well-deserved rest.  

Day 8: After breakfast, set off on a city tour of Muscat, exploring popular landmarks such as Sultan Qaboos Mosque, Oman’s iconic Opera House and Muttrah corniche and souk. After lunch in a local restaurant, the group will set off to Al Mouj Marina where they will take a boat ride 40 km from the mainland to Daymaniyat Islands. Known for abundant marine life, including turtles and blacktip sharks, the group can snorkel or relax on the pristine white sandy beach before tucking into a sunset BBQ. Return to your hotel by 9 pm.

Day 9: Departure day – bid farewell to the memorable adventure in Oman.
